I feel like podcasting has gotten way overcomplicated….
It's gone from something as pure as talking and sharing to a business with should’s and so many steps- it can be so overwhelming.
If you feel like you can't do it and that it's too much, I want this video + mini course to show you that you can.
Trading in the old way of podcasting for a simpler process
Podcasting at its core is simply talking and sharing.
All it really takes is….
Getting behind the mic when you have something to say.
Talking about your passions and thoughts.
And using a platform (ideally that’s free and simple… *cough *cough * Substack) to share it so you can build a community of likeminded people who care.
I've been a podcaster for over 3 years now.
I even have a podcast studio and am now a producer…. and I used to do all of the traditional steps.
Creating for an algorithm or what’s trending versus what I want.
Showing up in a powerpoint style versus a conversational way.
Churning out content for consistency’s sake.
And taking 10 million steps to share about it on social with little return. (more on that here)
I’ve felt that overwhelming, constricting feeling.
But ever since I uncovered Substack…
I’ve realized it doesn’t have to be that way.
With less tech and steps to create and share my podcast, I’ve been able to focus on the reason we create our shows to begin with: TO TALK AND SHARE.
Because creating your content can feel like self care.
And the beauty of Substack is that you don't have to limit your creation. You can podcast in so many different ways.
One day that might look writing out a post and reading it as a voiceover.
Another day you might get behind the mic and turn off your camera because you're sharing something from your journal.
And other times you might have your camera on because you want to connect with people face-to-face or do a guided version of what you're doing.
With Substack, podcasting simply becomes a way to get your thoughts out. Just like writing, it’s a medium that, by talking and sharing, can be transformed into anything else you want.
Uncovering this enjoyable, freeform process… has allowed me to no longer see podcasting as a task. Instead it’s become part of my life's expression, my legacy- despite all the chaos that happens.
Because there will be times where you forget to hit record.
There will be times where your camera dies.
Or your mic won't work.
Or you'll get sick and so you won't create “on schedule.”
But instead you can create when you’re inspired and have something to say. And you can create a community that cares while you're doing it.
So here are a few needle moving activities I learned to podcast with ease.
In this video, we're going to talk about things like:
Gear
Making sense of all the ideas in your head
And simplified tech
Because podcasting can really be that simple. With Substack, you can focus on the one thing you care about, creating, while it does all the rest.
If your goal is to talk and share and create a community that cares, then Substack is that missing hub you’ve been looking for.
And this mini course is going to show you exactly how I use it.
If you’re good with tech and learning new platforms:
then my goal is that this video gave you everything you need to get started.
You can go sign up for Substack, record this minute and hit publish and your podcast is up and running.
But if you want somebody to hold your hand through this and show you more:
like the ins and outs of Substack
how to save some time on the platform
sharing templates and everything you need to get started without extra research
then the mini course is going to offer you that.
I literally recorded myself recording an episode I’ve already posted, editing it, and uploading it to Substack. So you can walk through my entire process, see what I do, hear what I think about, why I edit and upload and write things in a certain way.
