Hello, Hello! Welcome to Tuning In.

This is a long time coming!

I, first off, should introduce myself- Hi, I'm Megan!

You may have been in our community for a while or this may be your first time joining us here. I’m just so, so grateful to have you.

To give you a little bit of background in case you are new to our world

I’m a mom, a Substack Creator/Podcaster and a Podcast Studio Co-Owner with my amazing husband, Collin. Our kids, Jack and Sophia, are 5.5 and 4. And we live in the sweetest town outside of Cleveland, Ohio- called Chagrin Falls.

  • If you’re a Gilmore Girls obsessed woman like me (I'm on the 16th time around watching it) we live in the real-life Stars Hollow. 😍 Complete with a rubber duck race down our river and waterfall and a popcorn ball-drop for our NYE celebration! (It’s a magical place✨)

We just love the way we're living life. And really, that's the impetus for what we’re doing here.

Why I’m launching a Substack

Tuning In is this platform that I've wanted to create (albeit I didn't know what in the world I wanted to call it…. which is really what's held me up from creating it…. but not blabbering on about it 🤣… for the past couple months.)

This concept of Substack and having a space to come where we can really build community, interact with each other, and in a really thoughtful and intentional way- share the work we're doing in a format that I actually enjoy receiving as a reader- are a few of the many reasons why I wanted to start a Substack.

When I came across it more recently, from a slow living podcast that I followed, I just thought it was so cool. I thought it was so cool to have a “blog” all hosted in one platform where people are already hanging out. It kind of reminds me of the days when Blogger was a thing.

Email Marketing You Actually Want to Consume

As a business owner, we always hear email marketing is SO important. But the problem I've always had with it is: Email is the place where things go to die for me. As a mom + creative, we gotta give something up. We can't, and don’t want to, do it all all the time. And email is that thing for me- when I see newsletters in my inbox oftentimes I just hit delete.

But come to learn with Substack, there is this beautiful opportunity to email market in a more user friendly way.

It's email marketing but in a way that we want to consume it, an archive so new followers can binge the potent messages we’ve already created AND it offers community . Which made me think to myself: “Wow, this is that thing that brings it all together.”

As a podcast host…

  • I'm already creating potent content that I want people to see.

  • I put it on our blog and then also, distill it down for an Instagram Carousel so people have a space they can comment on it and connect with it.

    • But it's this siloed and disjointed way to create when instead this one thoughtful piece can really fuel all the things that you do.

As a mom, the Substack app is amazing because…

  • I can intentionally subscribe and consume the content I’m interested in in one spot (and also know if I’ve read it before… which I’ve reread blogs I’ve found on Pinterest many a time.)

    • Versus in email where the information is cluttered among my other work and personal messages.

      • Plus my brain simply doesn’t want to consume that type of content in that location.

  • Another game changer feature is the % read marker.

    • As you're reading a piece of content, it remembers where you left off.

      • So when your kids inevitably need you and you need to set the article down and go back two days later to finish it- boom! You know where to go.

      • It's such a supportive feature to have and a beautiful piece of the puzzle that I’ve also noticed brings me back to the app before heading to social- I’m consuming more intentionally and sometimes simply less.

Substack also offers a place for community…

A place where we can actually converse about the topic that we're discussing which has been something that's missing from the podcasting space.

Right now you could have a beautiful conversation on your podcast and then you have to say: go meet me somewhere else where only a percentage of people will see your content and join in on it.

And so this is why, as a business owner, as a mom, as a consumer and as a creator- I've fallen in love with this concept of Substack. And I'm just so excited to get to play with it, not only for ourselves, but for our clients and community as well. To be able to see where this platform can take us in a very intentional way.

What you can expect from “tuning in” 😉 to this Substack… I couldn’t help myself

Tuning In is a space for deep, real, meaningful conversations about living a creative life with intention. Cozied up on the living room couch with your two closest girlfriends and a cup of something delicious ☕️  legs wrapped up like a pretzel, blanket hugging you, then after a breath you say “ok- go!” (Because we finally have a minute for mom talk.)

It’s where we get intentional and curious and prompt each other to get to the root and heart of it all so we can live the free and fulfilled holistic lives we crave 💕✨

In community, we explore the intersection of:

  • Slow, intentional living

  • Creativity

  • And motherhood

It's all about: living life in alignment instead of the societal shoulds.

Typical articles you’ll find here include:

Tuning In to yourself and Tuning out the rest

After years of outsourcing my power, looking to this guru, coach, book or “expert” to tell me what my next step is and how I can live the life I’ve dreamt of, I realized… no one else has my answers. The blueprint is inside me.

I created Tuning In as a space I could come to work through these aha’s, break these patterns and share these prompts in community.

I’ve found that as I tune into myself, share my experiences with others, and listen to others share their experiences too- it helps us all unlock a deeper way to tune into ourselves.

Ultimately helping us all live our life in a way that feels good to us.
